Skip the store-bought mix and make your own bold, spicy Bloody Mary right at home. This easy recipe blends tomato juice, spices, and seasonings for that perfect zesty kick. Make it ahead, chill overnight, and serve with your favorite garnishes for a crowd-pleasing brunch cocktail or mocktail.
Add all bloody mary ingredients (except ingredients for the salt rim and liquor) to a large pitcher, carafe or mason jar. Stir to combine.
Chill mix in the refrigerator overnight (this is a must for the flavors to develop).
Taste and adjust seasonings to your preference (you may want to add additional hot sauce, Old Bay, black pepper, or lemon juice).
Make the Bloody Mary
To rim the glass when making bloody marys, place rim salt on a small plate or rim salt dish.
Before filling a glass with ice, make a notch in a quarter of a lime or lemon or dip in pickle or dip the glass in pickle or olive juice. Rub the notch along the top rim of the glass until the rim is wet. Tip the glass into thesalt rim mix.
To make a cocktail: In a glass with plenty of ice, combine 5 ounces of Bloody Mary mix and 2 ounces vodka or gin. Stir to combine.
