These Bacon Brown Sugar Green Beans (aka Crack Green Beans) are sweet, smoky, and irresistibly saucy. With just a few pantry ingredients, you can make a side dish that tastes like it came straight from a holiday table.
4slicesbacondiced (I cut with kitchen scissors into bacon lardons about ¼ inch)
½cupdiced yellow onion
2teaspoonsminced garlicor ½ teaspoon garlic powder
1teaspoonWorcestershire sauce
1teaspoonbalsamic vinegar
2teaspoonssoy sauce
⅓cuppacked brown sugar
¼ to ½teaspoonblack pepperor to taste
⅛ to ¼teaspoonsred pepper flakesor to taste
2 -14.5 ouncecans of cut green beansdrained, reserving some of the liquid (about ½ cup)
kosher or sea salt (to taste)

Instructions
In a skillet over medium-heat. Add diced bacon and yellow onion and cook until crispy, about 4-5 minutes, or until desired crispiness. During the last minute of cooking add minced garlic.
Turn down to medium-low heat. Add the Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until the brown sugar is melted.
Add in drained green beans. Stir gently to coat in the sauce. Add 2-4 teaspoons of the green bean liquid, if desired.
Cover and cook for about 20 minutes, gently stirring half way through.
Taste and add salt if desired.
Serve warm.

During the fall and holidays add toasted pecan pieces or sliced almond for extra crunch
